Whakapapa: this poem is in the Bhakti tradition. Bhakti yoga is the path of love and ecstasy where the devotee passionately seeks the with Beloved with her/his heart. Poets who have written in the Bhakti style include; Mirabai, Rumi, Hafiz & John of the Cross. There are a number of ‘sayings’ of the Self influencing the poem: ‘go into the night of nights,’ 3/1/13 ‘you’ve entered my Self,’ & ‘the pathless one,’ 11/1/13 & ‘beyond understanding’ 12/1/13. The poem is also influenced by a recent dream in which I entered an ancient castle.
