Deep Song
Deep Song
I sing praise to Deep Song
To the dark hymns of the depths
To Tui and Koromako
Who are nothing except themselves
And thus, witnesses to the depths
From woven nests
Among the green citadels of the Unknown
Whose melodies infuse the sanctuary
Of Deep Song
For nine abundant years
Whose name was given in a dream
Whose prophecies sing in my bones
Who births stillness
So, stillness births me
Where Moon
Hangs low above Mirror Mountain
And it’s here I’ve written seven books
And each has reworked my life
Until I become singular, and an exception
Yet, intimately interwoven with all life
And on the last day
We will turn the key together
In the sure realisation
Nothing
Is left behind

You will occupy your place where the moon is still and clear, and you will call her Deep Song –
