Portents
Portents
Beyond the mists of human time
There lies a greater mind
Where ancient voices speak as one
In image, word & rhyme
The standing place of all that’s true
Our helm within the storm
It rises fierce to speak with us
& of our danger warn
In omens dark, in fiery sparks
The healing voices speak
You’re fading fast, yet hope still lasts
Come gather at our feet
.
‘Portents’; omens, signs, auguries, warnings, premonitions, prophecy
‘A greater mind’: the poet WB Yeats called the mind of Nature ‘the Great Mind’ and ‘the Great Memory’
The ancients called this dynamic and living intelligence ‘Anima Mundi’ (The World Soul)
