The way I understand the Saying is;

‘The Teacher’ is the Self
The Teacher is both ‘now’ & ‘future’ (present & coming)
Union with the Teacher brings spiritual & psychological resurrection
(The Resurrection of Life)
Union with the Teacher continues into the afterlife (forever & ever)
