You’re not far from servanthood
‘You’re not far from servanthood’
Winter sun
Pierces
Waikoropupū
Mist
Solstice
Inches closer
Your hand rests
On my shoulder
It’s the long-awaited
Culmination
Journeys’ end
Becomes
Journeys’ beginning
The way of servanthood
Awaits
My threadbare
Stumbling
Shoes

Awakening to the Greater Life inevitably leads to a life of service. The pilgrim re-enters the collective they have psychologically separated from. They carry the treasure they have recovered from the depths. It’s their unique gift to humanity. The hand of the Angel of Humanity rests on their shoulders. The onward path of servanthood beckons.
The ‘Angel of Humanity:’ is a name for the Self that I first heard from Sufi sources. I love the tenderness of the phrase. It gives a sense of the deep protective love the Self feels for the human person who carries it and for humanity as a whole.
